New to the site. Does anyone feel the urge to go back to more traditional-type rifles for mule deer hunting instead of the super-velocity mangleums with 12 power scopes? I'm talking about model 94 .30-30s, .32 win specials, etc.? I always have more fun 'hunting' instead of just 'shooting' and getting closer is more challenging, more rewarding, more 'sporting'. And it feels good to get back to more basics of hunting instead of just techno-overload and gadget-galore outdoor recreation. What say you?
I couldn't agree with you more! I grew up on .30-30s and I gotta tell ya the buck fever was far more intense and the thrills much more rewarding than with some of the newer technology. It seems like people just don't want to work as hard for things anymore…including their kills . I still enjoy a good bow hunt now and again too. Nothing is better than just me, an old rifle/bow, some cans of goop for eating, no one around to bother, and lots of time to spend searching for the BIG BUCK.
